I got the OKX Card just to get 50% off Netflix (Also works with ChatGPT and Claude)

The economy and my budget are feeling pretty tight, so I am saving wherever I can. I feel like I’ve been constantly canceling subscriptions for the past few months, but there is one service I always struggle to let go of: Netflix.

See, the thing is, Netflix actually saves me money. The vast portfolio with nearly 6,000 titles keeps me entertained and helps me stay home, where it’s more difficult to spend money. The savings help me invest more in crypto before we get out of the bear market, after all! Because I am a greedy investor, I am always looking to save even more, and my next money-saving tool is the OKX Card.

I was about to ignore the OKX Card!

I am simplifying my credit card strategy, and I am down to two cards right now. Any new additions go through a strict filter and the benefits need to be quite enticing. So, when I started getting emails about the OKX Card launching in the USA, I looked into it and was actually about to ignore it.

Not that the card is bad; in fact, it’s quite outstanding if you’re willing to make a serious commitment with the platform. Cash back rewards can go up to 10% for the higher-tier Infinite, and the APY on USDG yield can go as high as 10%. That said, moving up the ladder is pretty difficult for most of us.

OKX Card tiers:

TierRequirementsCash backQualified spending limitMonthly cash back limitYield on USDG
ClassicNo requirements2%$2,500$504%
Plus$40,000 balance, $10,000 monthly card spend, or VIP1 membership4%$10,000$4006%
Premium$80,000 balance, $20,000 monthly card spend, or VIP2 membership4.5%$20,000$9008%
Signature$320,000 balance, $75,000 monthly card spend, or VIP3 membership5%$30,000$1,50010%
Infinite$500,000 balance, $100,000 monthly card spend, or VIP4+ membership10%$15,000$1,50010%

As you can see, even moving past the Classic tier is a bit of a struggle. I don’t know about you, but I am not about to trust any exchange with $40,000, and I spend nowhere close to $10,000 a month in total, so meeting the card spend requirement is also a no-go. By the way, getting the lowest level of the OKX VIP program is even harder. You need to have $100,000 in assets on the exchange, and the numbers only get bigger if you want to qualify using spot, futures, or options trading.

So yeah, maybe some of you have bigger pockets, but none of those things are happening for me. The Classic tier is all I can reasonably consider. And honestly, it’s not bad. It’s actually pretty nice for people without access to some of the hotter cards. It’s a widely accepted Mastercard with no annual fee, no foreign transaction fees, and some pretty fair benefits. It also requires no credit check, as it is not exactly a credit card. OKX calls it a charge card, as your spending is backed by deposited stablecoins, and it requires full repayment.

I just happen to easily get the same benefits from other services. I can get more than 2% cash back, with multiple other cards, and without earning limits. 4% yield on unused USDG is also good, but it’s in line with other yield-earning services I use. Not to mention, all yields are only on the first $10,000. Anything above that will earn 3.5%, regardless of your tier.

The OKX Card offers 50% off Netflix, ChatGPT, and Claude!

I wasn’t about to get yet another card, especially if it was going to become one I wouldn’t really use. That’s when I saw the OKX Card’s hottest feature. Apparently it offers 50% rebates on some enticing subscription services, one of them being one of the world’s favorite streaming services: Netflix. ChatGPT and Claude are also included. This comes in the form of a USDG rebate when the transaction settles. Of course, there are some caveats to keep in mind.

How to qualify for the 50% offer:

  • Keep Autopay enabled: For starters, most of the benefits are only available if you use Autopay instead of Manual repayment. With Autopay, OKX Pay will charge you for spending right after each transaction settles. If you use Manual repayment, you need to do it manually by the payment date set on your monthly statement.
  • There is a limit: These 50% credits for Netflix, ChatGPT, and Claude cannot exceed $20 in total, per month. The allowance resets the first day of every month. One thing to keep in mind is that getting a year subscription will only get you the same maximum $20 back.
  • Pay with USDG: OKX mentions that, specifically for this offer, you need to use USDG. It won’t work if you back your card with USDC or USDT.
  • Stick to the website!: To get the rebate, you need to use the services’ official websites, and pay directly, using the card info. In-app and app store payments will not work.

The card is only digital for now, so I didn’t have to wait for it to arrive in the mail. As a stable-coin backed charge card, it’s pretty much a debit card and had no effect on my credit score.

I signed up, and was set up with 5 minutes or so. I sent like $50 bucks to my OKX Pay account, changed my Netflix payment method, and now my $8.99 Netflix monthly plan should effectively turn into about $4.50 per month. That pretty much covers me for about 11 months of Netflix!

Of course, that is as long as OKX Card keeps this promotion going. I guess I’ll go back to paying full price if the offer goes away at some point. Until then, it’s pretty much my dedicated Netflix-paying card!
